We have recently noticed a change in the leopard dynamics around the lodge. With the loss of female leopards, Karula and Salayexe, a space has been created for new arrivals as they move into the vacant spots.

Shadow has now moved more towards Karula’s old spot, which means we no longer see her around the lodge. The Ingreds Dam female has now moved north and is finding Shadow’s old territory to be a great new spot, and seems to be enjoying life in and around the lodge. Not only has the Ingreds Dam female been spotted drinking out of our lodge’s pools; but the resident bushbuck and Nyala have proven to be easy targets for her too.

The next couple of months are going to be interesting, and whether these younger leopards make their mark in the northern Sabi Sands remains to be seen!

Until next time…
